SAN PABLO CITY – Calamba City public market’s commercial building worth about two million pesos was gutted by fire close to midnight on Thursday, said the city’s fire department.
Deputy Fire Marshall Nestor Gorio, identified over the phone the owner of the ill-fated two-storey “RC Grocery” building located at the Trade Center along Calamba Crossing as one Raquel Clara of Calamba City.
Nobody was injured during the fire, he said.
Gorio said authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire which reached up to 3rd Alarm level that needed fire fighters from seven municipalities and three cities to control the conflagration in four hours.
Fire fighter assistance came from as far as Tanauan City and Sto. Tomas both in Batangas; and nearby towns of Bay, Los Banos, Calauan, Pila, Binan, Cabuyao, Sta. Rosa City, San Pedro and local Calamba city fighters.
